5 Things that can help sell your home faster

Struggling to sell your home in today's stagnant market? Here's Acquire's guide to the 5 key things that make a home more appealing to potential buyers.

And the good news is most of the things they suggested won't cost you much, if anything, at all.

So here they are, in order of importance.

De-clutter - This one is fairly simple - have a tidy-up. Yes, it's a pain to do, but put it this way: if your house looks neat and clean for a prospective buyer they'll be more easily able to put themselves, mentally, in the space. So tidy up your old magazines and DVDs!
Sort out the garden - If you have a garden, it's easy to let it get overgrown and untidy. So if you are thinking of selling get your lawn mower out and give the lawn a good going-over. And sort out the weeds. And give the flowers a water...
Fix paint chips - You've been living in your pad for a while and, naturally, the paint or wallpaper has become scuffed and damaged. People notice this - even if they don't mention it, they're thinking about it. So when a prospective buyer comes round they'll notice you've not been taking care of the walls and wonder what else you've neglected.
Clean your windows - Yes, inside and out. Why? Well, like the front door - buyers will notice if your house is east-facing but dark first thing in the morning. So get those windows shiny and see-through.
Repair fences and gates - As with the paint chips before, prospective buyers will notice if your fences or gates are on the verge of collapsing. Get some new ones in or repair and repaint them.
